Book Description:

Modern assumptions mislead us in our attempt to understand the characters of Greek drama. Since Shakespeare, we have become accustomed to characters who are realistically portrayed people, characters we could imagine meeting on the street. The characters of Greek tragedy, however, were much more abstract.
