items for the final set of vocabulary and multiple choice
items covering literary devices.
Part III An essay. (See Lessons 20-23
for writing lessons and rubric.)
Students will write an essay of at least 500 words that
answers the question, “What can I Know Why Caged Bird
Sings teach us about how people overcome adversity?”
The essay must contain an introduction, body paragraphs,
and a conclusion and should discuss examples of adversity
that are culled from students’ knowledge of the world
around them or personal experience.
