Video Documentary:
Capital Offences

The video documentary "Capital Offences" focuses on the anti-death penalty views of Skyline students, ordinary citizens in the Bay Area, and an exonerated death row in-mate. The purpose of the video is to broaden the scope of the topic "Death Penalty," and allow the students to experience and explore the views of other people from a broader spectrum. Broadening the scope of the students challenged their ability to assess the ethical, moral, and loyalty values of other people outside the classroom.

The video documentary lesson provided the student filmmakers an opportunity to learn a skill not often offered in a classroom setting. Hence, five student filmmakers were trained on the use and care of video equipment. They learned how to set-up and operate a camcorder, basic filming techniques, and the beginning steps to Final-Cut Pro process. Under the direction of a professional Videographer and the teacher, the students learn the basic steps for producing a video documentary.
