Week Three:

Students are to read one "Part" each day, which approximates out to 40-50 pages. The teacher should begin and conclude each period with discussion questions and clarification.

At the conclusion of the book, students will write a critique of the book answering questions such as those listed below:

  1. What was Kay's childhood like? Discuss her family.
  2. What was Kay's first bipolar episode like? How did she view it?
  3. What finally led Kay to therapy? How did she view it?
  4. What was Kay's experience like with medication? Why did she refuse to take it? Why did she begin to take it again? Besides medication, what assisted her in her recovery?
  5. How did Kay end up as a professor at John Hopkins?
  6. Overall, how does she view the bipolar experience? How has she found peace of mind?
